Pure Concrete

Abdurrahman Öztoprak is regarded one of the pioneer painters of Modern Turkish Art. The museum published the book “Pure Concrete”, which covers the late artist’s later works from 2000-2011. 

The book has been designed by Joelle İmamoğlu and entails texts written by Dr. Tobias Hoffmann, Dr. Julian Heynen, Dr. Silvio Fuso and Dr. Vittorio Urbani, who analyse the artist’s position within European and Turkish Painting. Dr. Necmi Sönmez and Dr. Özkan Eroğlu make a detailed analysis of Öztoprak’s later works.

It is important to note that the artist read and confirmed the last copy of this book before its publication. The artist’s autobiography is also available in the book. “Pure Concrete: Abdurrahman Öztoprak, Later Works” is sold in bookstores in Istanbul. The book was published in 2012 to coincide with the exhibition at the museum “In Memory of Abdurrahman Öztoprak”.



The “Elgiz10″ book was published in 2011 to coincide with the 10th year anniversary celebrations of the museum and the exhibition “Elgiz10″. “Elgiz10″ archives the arts events from 2001-2011 and texts on private collections and museology. The book is a collection offers extensive visuals and information about the museum exhibitions, conferences and performances, as well as the Elgiz Collection.

Essays and interviews with leading art world professionals and collectors from Turkey, and abroad on private collectorship and museology on the furtherment of contemporary art are taken into account. The editor of the 304-page book is Nurten Özkoray.
