about-us

Elgiz Museum was founded in 2001 by collectors Sevda and Can Elgiz as Turkey's first contemporary art museum. Acting with the mission of filling the country's shortcomings and ensuring the development of contemporary art in the period when there were no state and foundation museums on contemporary or contemporary art, the institution was opened to the public on an area of 2000 m² with its non-profit, international identity.
