As part of the neighboring events of the 15th Istanbul Biennial, Elgiz Museum is hosting artist SARP's Lunar project curated by Huma Kabakcı. The 2.5-meter-long installation consisting of three tulle textiles of different sizes will be on view in the museum's mezzanine exhibition space throughout the biennial. As part of the installation, huge images of the lunar surface taken by NASA in the 1960s and covered on the mezzanine floor will activate the museum space, inviting visitors to climb the museum stairs and “set foot on the moon”.
In this latest project titled LUNAR, SARP also develops the light projection technique that he began to use in the Maşallah series and which has been acclaimed by art critics. Materiality and mobility also play an important role in Lunar, thanks to the hanging tulles that are backlit and float freely like a curtain.
The exhibition will be on view at the Elgiz Museum until November 15th.
