On 20 March 2014, the Elgiz Museum brought the audience together with a selection from the collections of 5 young collectors.
The wheels of the contemporary art scene are turning faster and faster. In the world and in our country, even the works of talented students can move from workshops to galleries or auctions. Circles of media and collectors form around each brilliant artist, and creative identities can live a butterfly reign; until another dazzling star candidate takes the stage. Collectors of recent generations endeavour to acquire the results of the creativity of the stars of their generation.
The Elgiz Museum has brought these endeavours to light and opened them up for evaluation with a selection from the collections of ‘recent generations’ in the process of formation.
Curated and designed by Haşim Nur Gürel and the museum team, the exhibition's art historical evaluation of the relevant time period is analysed by Burcu Pelvanoğlu. The explanatory texts of the collectors or collection managers provide clues to the formation of the exhibition.
A selection from the collections of young collectors Ahu Büyükkuşoğlu Serter, Ebru Özdemir, Hüma Kabakçı, Mehmet Ali Bakanay, Tansa Mermerci Ekşioğlu can be viewed until 7 May. In addition, various events took place in the context of the exhibition.
