On 28 March 2015, the Elgiz Museum opened the second edition of ‘Young Collectors 2’, an exhibition of four young contemporary art collectors.
In recent years, contemporary art collecting has attracted attention in the world and in Turkey. Individuals' devotion to contemporary art in particular supports the rapid development of art and the globalisation of Turkish art. The mission of the Elgiz Museum is to support art, to make the works of artists visible, and to exhibit its own collection and other collections that add momentum to art.
The ‘Young Collectors 2’ exhibition presents the works of Turkey's recent generation of collectors to art lovers. It invites us to explore the unknown and the invisible with the story, emotion and vision of each collector. The exhibition, which aroused curiosity and excitement last year, sheds light on the recent generation of contemporary art collectors. The texts in the catalogue, in which the collectors describe their experiences and passions, embody the common spirit of the exhibition.
Curated by Marcus Graf, the exhibition presents a selection of works representing the invited collectors as well as their first purchases.
The exhibition, consisting of the collections of collectors Şeli-Alber Elvaşvili, İrem-Sina Kınay, Billur-Atilla Tacir and Şebnem-Mahmut Ünlü, will be on view until 16 May. Side events will also be organised in the museum within the framework of the exhibition.
Artists whose works are included in the exhibition: Arzu Akgün, Ramazan Bayrakoğlu, Cecil Beaton, Marius Bercea, Mel Bochner, Taner Ceylan, İsmet Doğan, Murat Germen, Ahmet Doğu İpek, Azade Köker, Temür Köran, Friedrich Kunath, Fikret Mualla, Ahmet Oran, İrfan Önürmen, Seçkin Pirim, Leopold Rabus, Antoine Roegiers, Jiang Shuo, Daniel Sinsel, Ömer Uluç, Ebru Uygun, Mehmet Ali Uysal, Andy Warhol, Cao Xiaodong, Zhu Yi Yong and Chen Yu.
