Grey and Beige Portfolio

‘’Grey is a colour that looks as if it will change to another colour at any moment.‘’ G.K.Chesterton

The Elgiz Museum welcomes the summer with 18 new works selected from the museum's collection, with a focus on sculpture and installation. Opening in parallel with the annual terrace exhibition, the exhibition ranges from the beige contours of Kemal Önsoy's famous works to the aluminium sculpture of the year's most famous artist Erwin Wurm, whose aluminium sculpture concealed within the human form aims to underline the turbulent times we are living in, while Stephan Balkenhol's gigantic wood-carved sculpture ‘Big Man’ greets Haşim Nur Gürel's ‘Erard Piano’. This is followed by a striking photographic work by Alex Prager and a vague image by Xavier Veilhan, almost reminiscent of a musical.

The concepts of ambiguity and continuity that dominate the exhibition are inspired by Chesterton's description of the colour grey.
