This exhibition aimed to point to the thresholds between painting, which has a tradition of almost 600 years, from the early Renaissance to the present day, and painting today (traditional / new, painting / non-painting), which has a privileged position within Modern Art. Fulya Erdemci emphasizes this situation as follows: “Given the heavy history of painting and today's fast-paced international art scene (especially after many years as a playground for works produced with video, photography, installation and new technologies), painting today is a matter of courage! Given the slowness, corporeality, loneliness and risk of the painting process, as well as the difficulty of movement in the global world and the lack of criteria, painting today is an act of courage!”
Comprising works by artists from different generations, the exhibition presented works that reflect on painting and aimed to shed light on the direction of painting in the post-modern era.
