The Elgiz Museum's ‘52-62’ exhibition addressed a period in the history of Turkish contemporary sculpture. The exhibition ‘52-62’ featured the works of sculptors born between 1952 and 1962. The exhibition lasted until 27 December.
As in every Terrace Exhibition, the museum works with a special Advisory Board for this exhibition. The artists were invited by the Advisory Board consisting of Seyhun Topuz, Rahmi Aksungur, Nilüfer Ergin, Haşim Nur Gürel and Can Elgiz.
The exhibition featured sculptures in various materials by Ali Dirier, Ayla Aksungur, Ertuğ Atlı, Güler Güngör, Hayri Karay, Kemal Tufan, Mümtaz Demirkalp, Nilüfer Ergin, Nurettin Bektaş, Önder Büyükerman, Selma Gürbüz, Server Demirtaş, Ümit Öztürk and Yunus Tonkuş.
The artists were evaluated not on a specific subject, but according to their age range and artistic development. In the exhibition ‘52-62’, the viewer both reveals how effectively the sculpture production of Turkish contemporary art developed in a certain period and analyses the production processes of sculptors through specific works.
While the sculptures exhibited are classical, figurative, conceptual and kinetic in character, some artists will produce new works for the exhibition, while others have borrowed works from private collections.
