12TH TERRACE EXHIBITION ‘DESPITE EVERYTHING’ OPENS ON 23 SEPTEMBER!
The open call for the 12th Terrace Exhibition, which continued during the pandemic, has been a motivation to produce and create for sculpture artists who had to stop their production and even close their workshops due to restrictions in many cities in Turkey.
The 39 works, which were evaluated by our esteemed advisory board members Seyhun Topuz, Rahmi Aksungur, Nilüfer Ergin, Haşim Nur Gürel and Can Elgiz, make us question our living habits around the theme of ‘Despite Everything’ and say that ‘hope’ and ‘peace’ are possible despite disasters, wars or diseases. The works, which have been waiting for their viewers on the open-air terrace of the museum since 23 September, give strength to both artists and art lovers while waiting for the good days to come.
Since 2012, the Terrace Exhibitions have been reaching national and international sculpture and ‘land-art’ artists every year through an open call, bringing the city together with sculpture art with a different theme every year. The exhibition, which features colourful images among the skyscrapers, brings together the large-scale works of young artists who have devoted themselves to the art of sculpture, which they have not had the opportunity to exhibit, with the audience who only observe the art of sculpture in certain parts of the city.
Building a bridge between artists and art lovers, the exhibition also brings collectors interested in sculpture together with the artists of the terrace with the events it organises throughout the exhibition; creative sculptures by young artists come to life in the homes and gardens of art lovers.
