Contemporary art gets a new venue in Istanbul...

In the 10th anniversary of its foundation, the Elgiz Museum has realized a new project that breathes new life into art. As an extension of the museum, a 1500m2 area was opened for use as an open-air sculpture exhibition space. The terrace of the museum building in Maslak has been transformed into a long-term exhibition space, introducing an innovation to Turkish contemporary art.

The first of the “Terrace Exhibitions” will be opened to the audience on June 18, 2012. The advisory board consisting of academic members evaluated the applications of sculpture artists under the age of 40 and brought together works that challenge the Ayazağa wind in an unusual space. Sculpture and outdoor works, which are used to be seen in parks, will be seen in the shadow of skyscrapers this time. Local and foreign visitors will watch art from a different corner of Istanbul.
